Stomp for Easter!

Happy Easter!
I can't believe it's all ready here. This year is just whizzing by me. My whirlwind concert week is winding down. Tonight it's the Psychedelic Furs.  Yes, the same ones that sang that fantastical iconic song "Pretty in Pink".  I am so excited!  I remember watching the movie and wanting so much to be as cute a Molly Ringwald.  I wanted her cute car too!  But I could do without the dress. Really, it wasn't that pretty.  It was more like a pink boring sack.  It's going to be great night to get my 80's on!

Yesterday we had the 2nd Annual Golf for a Cure in honor of Juliana.  It was such a great and emotional day.  I will write another post specifically on this tomorrow.  Still gathering my thoughts and emotions today.

Since it's Easter Sunday, today's soundtrack is God rawkin' music.  Enjoy!

I'm off to the Safari Disco Club

What is wrong with people and driving?  I didn't realize that using a turn signal was now optional.  I can't believe how many people just expect us to read their minds and know when they are going to turn.  How rude of us not to know that.  And to all those people that can't seem to remember that which lane they are supposed to be in, get off the phone and start paying attention to your lane.  Eyes on your own paper, geesh!

Since I've been back to work, my poor little squatter is getting a little sad.  He's so social and now that I am not  home, he's having a tough time. He used to jump at the chance to sit and sleep on my lap but when I come home late, he wants nothing to do with me.  I really think it's time to get my cat a cat.  He needs a little sister.  So, I am hoping that in the next few weeks that I find one for him.

It's Thursday night and it's been a great week.  A great music filled week.  I've gone to a couple of shows and I have four more shows this weekend.  Tonight I am going to see Yelle and French Horn Rebellion. So for today's soundtrack, it's music from some of the shows from this week.  I hope love you them as much as I do.

I'm filled with Happy Happy Joy Joy

It's Sunday night and I am getting ready for a crazy week ahead.  I am gonna be a busy girl this week.  I remember back in the day (when I lived in the land of unemployment) when I didn't have a life.  It just seems like yesterday that my life was consumed with reality TV and all the online reading I could get my hands on and now I have the life I've wanted for so long.  I'm going (and have been going) to so many happy hours, events and of course concerts. I feel like such a socialite. Look at me,  I have a life!  Woo!Hoo!

Today has been another crazy day.  Woke up late because last night I went to the Dallas Mavericks playoff game with my company.  How lucky am I?  So this morning, I just a little late getting my church on.  What a great service!  Afterwards, I worked on music for Juliana's golf tournament this Saturday.  It's going to be a rockin' good time.  I have to make a confession, I was bad.  I headed to Kohl's to purchase some clothes. And I mean, charge some clothes.  I need to look cute if I am going out now.  Then Sunday night dinner with my family.  Can I just say, dinner outside by the pool is a great way to spend the evening.

I've been so busy over the last few weeks and it's been such blessing. I believe in my heart that things happen for a reason.  I am pinching myself each time I go to work.  When I was unemployed and I kept getting doors slammed on me, I keep wondering why I wasn't getting those jobs.  It was driving me crazy and I was so upset after each let down that I was feeling like such a loser. But now that I have settled into this job, I know that I was meant to wait 8 months for this gig.  So for today's soundtrack, the theme is joy!  Enjoy!

I've had some Good Times

Holy Cow!  I haven't written since last Friday. What!?!?!??  Well, I've been getting a life.  I can say that my new job is getting me out in the world. And in the wise words of one Martha Stewart, "It's a good thing."  I've had such a good time it's scary.

Along with going to some great shows, I've been going out to all kinds of events.  Good stuff!  I still don't have the pictures from the Drag Brunch.  I am hoping to get those soon.

Last night was a fantastic night.  I started it out with dinner at Gloria's with a couple of friends then we headed out to see Marina and the Diamonds and Ishi.  Both were fantastic!!  It was a great show.  Lots of dancing and lots of fun.  You are going to hear more from these two.

Besides going out and working, life is good.  Tonight I am working on putting together some music for the golf tournament next Saturday. I can't believe that it's just around the corner.  It seems like we just started talking about it and now it's here.  If you know anyone that wants to help out, please have them visit http://www.girlpower2cure.org/golf

So today's soundtrack theme is about feeling good.

I need to Move

So the Wailers concert was greatness.  I did actually choke up a few times.  Yes, I know I am geek and I've accepted it.  I am a Bob Marley fan so it was just a cool thing for me to see. And not as much herbal as I expected.

This weekend is going to be a busy one. Tonight I went to Vision's - The Women's Expo at the Irving Convention Center.  Let me just say, that the CC is really cool.  I am so glad that Irving finally has something nice.  Back to the expo, I went to each and every booth.  I signed up to have a free home organization consultation.  Fingers crossed.  Got a nice little sample of goods for my squatter from the nice folks from PETCO.

Tomorrow I really need to hit boot camp.  I haven't worked out since last week.  I need to get back on schedule.  I hope I don't pass out.  Then it's off to a jewelry party at my Sister, I's house.  Fun!!!

Sunday, I will be getting my church on and then are you sitting down, I am going to a Drag Brunch.  I have no idea what to expect but it should be interesting.  I am going with a couple of friends that I met here at my complex.  Expect details and maybe some pictures.

All right kiddos, that is pretty much I have for now.  I must get to boot camp tomorrow.  I need some major motivation to get my butt in the gym and that is my soundtrack theme today.  Enjoy!

Oh No! I am not home.

I've kept quiet on my employment situation for awhile.  But I just can't take it anymore.  I have to say it.  I finally landed a job.  I'm ALIVE!!!  I started last Monday and it's been great.  I am working for a live concert venue.  What does that mean?  Loads of concerts for this Mex-I -Can!!  Woo!hoo!  So much new music and so little time.  Tomorrow, I will be seeing The Wailers.  Yes, that is Bob Marley's band.  I can't wait.  I've all ready seen his son Damian when he opened for U2 about 6 years ago.  Can't wait.

Now that I've started working, it's taken a little time for my poor squater (Oliver) to get his bearings. He's not used to being alone and when I get home he is standing at the door meowing like a maniac.  I think he is giving me a verbal lashing for not being at his disposal.

Reality TV time - why must I be so obsessed with you.
Celebrity Apprentice - I love John Rich even more. That man knows some deep pockets.  And Marley - wow, outstanding on fundraising.  I don't know why we are shocked when anyone of them has a major meltdown.  But still good stuff.

Dancing with the Stars - Last night I was at my Sister, L's house to watch the fight for that lovely mirrored ball.  As we are sitting there, we make comments on the dances and of course guess what the judges scores will be for each "star".  Usually, we are on par but last night we totally missed on almost all of them.  We just  knew that we were right and then here come the judges with the exact opposite. I couldn't decided if we were high or if it was the judges.  After thinking about the dances, I've decided the judges were the ones stiffing the glue.  And here is why:
  • Chelsea can do the moves but there is something missing.  I can't put my finger on it.
  • Petra (model girl) - looked like a beautiful, stiff board.
  • Kendra - ugg!!  Hey folks, stripper doesn't mean dancer. I'm sorry, I just can't logically root for a chick that was a stripper and stank to Hef.  Gross!
  • Wendy - Girl, learn how to cut loose. Boring!

This will probably be the only time that I will say that I like a Steeler but here goes. Hines Ward - absolutely darling.  And now I am loving Chris Jericho.  That dude can move.  So sad about my girl Kirstie but at least she is safe.  And then there is Johnny Castle.  Love him!  Wasn't great but so sweet. My 13 year old heart is totally on your side Johnny.

That's all I have for today.  Now that I've started this new job, I have new music to share with you.  Sweet!  Today's soundtrack is Marina and the Diamonds.  Add this to my list of obsessions.  Enjoy!

I wish I took a Picture

Yesterday I headed to the Deep Ellum Arts Festival to hear some bands.  It was a beautiful day but as usual I was sweating like a pig. Good thing that I didn't wear any makeup.  It would have been a lovely look for me - red & sweaty along with raccoon eyes.   There was one thing missing from that nice little jaunt... a man.  My birthday is coming up soon, so maybe I will add that to my birthday present list.

I ended up going myself to the event and did some people watching. Fascinating stuff.  All types of people there.  We had the typical art type peeps (hence the event), the hipsters with their skinny jeans, the drunk frat boys and a gaggle of young families.  I almost forgot one group - the dog people.  Not just the ones with dogs on a leash but the ones that had their sweet babies in a carrying bag or in the stroller. As I was there, I was really wishing I would have taken a camera.

I strolled the streets looking at all the fantastic art - painting, photography, jewelry and purses.  Walking from booth to booth, I was suddenly feeling really average.  I wish had powers that allowed me to create something arty.  With those feels, inspiration has hit me. I want to get back to photography but my cameras kind of suck.  I have a really old Nikon FM (for all you youngsters, it is a camera where you shoot, take your film to get developed and have to wait to see your final work) that doesn't work and it's so old, NIKON doesn't even have the parts for it.  Then there is my digital camera. That thing is a dinosaur.  It was a Christmas present from 2005.  I have used it like crazy but now it's just old and really bulky.  When I pay off my bills, my goal is to buy a really nice camera but I have no idea what I want.  I guess I will just have to dream until then.

I guess that's all for today. Nothing major.  For today's soundtrack, my inspiration is again - Photography.  Enjoy!
